Fourier Transform Infrared Spectrophotometer (FTIR)
Financial Support from DST-FIST 2008
Infrared spectroscopy monitors the interaction of functional groups in chemical compounds with infrared light resulting predictable vibrations that provides a “fingerprint” characteristic of compound(s) present in the sample. It is convenient, fast, accurate and reliable for identification of functional groups in compounds.
The instrument works with KBr pellet method and Nujol method.
