The Department of Zoology came into existence in 1952 with the BSc Zoology programme. The PG programme with Medical Microbiology came up in 2002. The Research Centre of the Department got approved in 2007. The specialization areas of the Department include Environmental biology, Toxicology, Fish biology, Microbiology etc. At present three Research Guides are associated with the Department. Till date two Research scholars have been awarded PhD from the centre.
